I’m Jackie Shaw, A Rapid Transformational Therapist (RTT)

I know what it feels like to look confident on the outside while questioning yourself underneath.
But before I became a therapist, I was someone who understood what it felt like to struggle with anxiety, social anxiety and a deep loss of confidence.
For years, I often felt that I didn’t quite belong. I could appear confident on the outside while privately questioning myself and being my own harshest critic.
Over time, my confidence gradually became smaller and smaller.
There came a point where I was taking antidepressants and found myself feeling safer on my own because I no longer trusted myself to say the right thing, do the right thing or feel comfortable in social situations.
I knew I didn’t want to stay feeling that way.
I tried several times to come off my medication, but each time I found myself returning to it. I knew I didn’t want to keep feeling this way, but at that point I didn’t know how to change it.
Then something happened that changed the direction of my life.
I decided I wanted to become an RTT® Hypnotherapist. But even then, I didn’t really believe I could do it. I questioned whether I was capable enough, whether I had what it took and whether I could really help other people.
I remember talking to my daughter about it, and she simply said:
“Mum, you will be amazing at it.”
Those words have stayed with me ever since.
Sometimes, we only need one person to believe in us before we can start believing in ourselves.
Her belief in me gave me the confidence to take that first step, and my RTT® training began.
As I went through my own journey of understanding my thoughts, beliefs and patterns, I began to see myself differently. I became more aware of the way I spoke to myself and how deeply our beliefs can influence the way we see ourselves and respond to life.
During this time, with appropriate support, I gradually came off my antidepressants. I haven’t returned to them since.
For me, this wasn’t about suddenly becoming a different person. It was about understanding myself on a deeper level, rebuilding my confidence and discovering that change really was possible.
Learning to treat myself with more kindness and compassion became a turning point.
Slowly, I began to trust myself again.
And the person who once questioned whether she could become a therapist went on to qualify as an RTT® Hypnotherapist.
That experience is a huge part of why I do what I do today.
I know what it feels like to need someone to believe in you.
And I know how powerful it can be when, eventually, you start believing in yourself.
